Our Engineering Team is seeking an onsite Associate Lab Support Engineer. You would be responsible for conceptualizing ideas with engineers, using a breadth of experience and expertise to provide custom fabrications and prototypes and deliver clean, consistent, and reliable results. Whether you're tackling mechanical or electrical tasks, troubleshooting design challenges, or providing technical input, your work will directly enhance product performance and customer satisfaction. The essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Performs fabrications, alterations and other technical work on electronic and mechanical components as requested.
  • Repairs electronic and mechanical assemblies as requested.
  • Remains available and responds rapidly to support programs with various last-minute items such as fixing prototypes, last minute assembly corrections, etc.
  • Makes changes to hardware boards, including cutting traces, changing parts, and running fine wiring, to improve operative performance.
  • Inspects product design for problems or errors.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and debugging of electronic components.
  • Contributes to the development of prototype drawings and processes for engineering first runs.
  • Provides suggestions for ways to improve product design and implementation approaches for electronic and mechanical components.
  • Creates test assemblies for manufacturing and ATE.
  • Creates custom audio, data and power cables for customer use cases, and builds other custom components as requested and as feasible.
  • Manages consumable supplies stock (cable stock, common components, etc.).
  • Maintains specialized lab tools (crimpers, solder irons, etc.)
  • Assists with engineering purchasing when requested.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during lab work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develops relationships with team members built on trust and respect.

Education and work experience requirements are:

  • At least ten (10) years overall experience of applicable technician experience.

To be considered for this position, you would need to meet, at a minimum, the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here:

  • Expert or specialist skills in:
    • Electricity and electronics.
    • Soldering techniques.
    • Fine-pitch CCA rework.
    • Assembly and modification of electronic racks.
    • Troubleshooting of complex electrical and mechanical engineering systems down to the component level.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and patience in working with small, meticulous and complex components.
  • Exhibits solid customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to translate technical jargon into layman's terms for explanatory purposes.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Willingness to seek out additional input and clarification when provided with incomplete or ambiguous instructions.

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

TrellisWare Technologies pays competitively according to the market in an individual's geographic location, in addition to their qualifications and experience. The posted range is for individuals located in the San Diego, CA area. The pay range for this position is: $100,000-120,000 annually.
