Tecovas is looking for a skilled and innovative Product Photographer to join our creative team and play a crucial role in showcasing our products in the best possible light. Reporting directly to the Senior Creative Producer and working in close partnership with the entire creative team, you will utilize your passion for photography, keen eye for detail and strong understanding of visual storytelling to produce captivating images that highlight the unique features and benefits of our products. As the Product Photographer, your work will be instrumental in attracting and engaging our customers, ultimately driving sales and enhancing our brand identity.
This position requires that the candidate resides in the Austin, TX area with the expectation that they will regularly work onsite at Tecovas HQ.
What you’ll do:
- Product Photography: Create high-quality, visually appealing, and consistent product images that accurately represent our products. This includes capturing various angles, details, and features to showcase the product's qualities effectively. You’ll be shooting products on and off-body in seamless, on-white environments and real world locations.
- Video capture: In addition to photography, short clips of products in motion are an essential part of our product marketing. Experience with basic video lighting, production and editorial play a smaller but important role when compared to photography.
- Studio Setup and Lighting: Set up and maintain a well-equipped photography studio with appropriate lighting, backdrops, and props to ensure consistent and professional-looking images.
- Product Styling: Collaborate with the product team to ensure that products are styled appropriately for photography, creating aesthetically pleasing compositions.
- Image Editing and Retouching: Utilize photo editing software to enhance and optimize product images, ensuring color accuracy, brightness, and overall visual appeal.
- Quality Control: Perform thorough quality checks on all photographs, ensuring they meet our established standards for visual excellence and brand consistency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and design teams to understand project requirements, concepts, and image goals. Effectively translate ideas into captivating images that align with our brand image
- Image Rights Database Management: Organize and maintain an extensive product image catalog, ensuring easy accessibility and efficient retrieval
Experience we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in studio experience required
- 5+ years of experience in studio product photography, preferably in an e-commerce or retail environment
- Professional portfolio that showcases proficiency with studio and natural lighting, color balance, exposure, and composition required
- Experience using physical samples and reference files to match color accurately
- Strong understanding of lighting, reflections, materials, textures, and how they affect color
- Familiarity with Photoshop and/or CaptureOne action sets, image resolution, color space, and image file formats
- Previous experience working at an agency or with an in-house creative team or brand is a plus
- Working knowledge and/or a willingness to learn about AI tools that support photography and video is a plus
- Knowledge of the western landscape is a plus
What you bring to the table:
- You have the ability to work independently and efficiently, with strong organizational skills, meticulous file naming, and storage practices.
- You are a collaborator with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- You possess great time management skills and are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
- You are proficient in operating professional photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.).
- You have a creative mindset that can bring innovative and visually compelling ideas to the table with the goal of highlighting products and their unique features through photography.
