About Tavrn
Tavrn builds AI for health-related litigation. Our products span AI voice agents that navigate healthcare workflows and LLM-OCR pipelines that structure complex medical and legal data. We’re growing quickly after our Series A and are hiring entrepreneurial engineers who want outsized ownership and impact—on site in San Francisco.
What you’ll do
- Own 0→1 and 1→n product work across AI voice, OCR, and case-prep tooling—scoping, designing, and shipping features end-to-end.
- Design reliable AI systems: retrieval/evaluation loops, prompt/tooling architecture, model and pipeline orchestration, and observability.
- Build data pipelines that ingest, OCR, normalize, and structure messy healthcare/claims documents at scale.
- Ship production services: APIs, workers, eventing, and storage with strong SLAs, testing, and runtime telemetry.
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with founders and customers (law firms, ops teams) to translate workflows into product and technical specs.
- Raise the bar on engineering quality: code reviews, testing strategy, CI/CD, performance, and documentation.
- Champion privacy & security in a regulated environment; partner on HIPAA-grade controls and reviews.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years building and operating production software (backend or full-stack) with a record of shipped features.
- Strong systems thinking: API design, data modeling, concurrency, reliability, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on with AI/ML products: LLMs, speech, OCR, RAG/retrieval, vector indexing, embeddings, and evaluation.
- Product mindset with a bias to sit with users, iterate fast, and measure outcomes.
- Ownership: comfortable tackling ambiguous problems and leading projects cross-functionally.
- Willingness to work in person in San Francisco (typical on-site cadence: Monday–Friday).
Nice to have
- Experience with healthcare data/workflows (claims, medical records) and familiarity with HIPAA considerations.
- Knowledge of document intelligence (layout parsing, table extraction, entity linking) and speech/telephony systems.
- Familiarity with HL7/FHIR, EHR integrations, or legal-tech tooling.
- Exposure to modern cloud stacks (containerized services, managed queues, object stores, infra-as-code).
Our environment
- Pragmatic stack with modern Python/TypeScript, cloud services, containers, and event-driven architecture.
- Strong emphasis on observability, testing, and developer velocity (clean CI/CD, reproducible environments).
- Fast feedback loops: weekly product reviews with founders and users, whiteboard sessions in office.
Why Tavrn
- Impact & scope: Small, senior team—own critical surfaces that ship to customers quickly.
- Mission: Reduce the friction and cost of health-related litigation with trustworthy AI.
- Backed by top investors: A*, Left Lane, and BoxGroup.
- Comp + equity: Competitive cash and meaningful ownership.
- In-person collaboration: Tight feedback cycles and rapid decision-making with the team in SF.
