About Tandem

The office space industry is being completely flipped on its head right now. We are in the middle of a MAJOR disruption driven by two things:

  • Office attendance has permanently shifted — offices across every major metro in the US are roughly 50% as full as they were in 2019.
  • Hybrid work is here to stay. The five-days-in-the-office workweek is going away forever for most jobs.

Tandem is a marketplace tech company enabling the next generation of office space. Check us out at tandem.space — you’ll see hundreds of spaces on our platform. We match, service, and enable companies every day to find their perfect office space, and we’re just getting started.

We’re a small, experienced team of 15 full-time employees. Tandem has an all-star founding team, and you will work directly with the co-founders, who previously worked at Google and Bain & Company.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a generalist athlete to launch our third market: Boston. This role is highly hands-on — you’ll be out in the field every day, meeting with office owners, walking their spaces, and pitching them on joining Tandem’s platform. You’ll be building a marketplace from the ground up, one building at a time.

This is not a back-office strategy job — it’s about rolling up your sleeves, getting into buildings, and turning conversations into partnerships. You’ll also work cross-functionally to ensure the market grows on both supply and demand sides, feeding real-time learnings back into the playbook we’ll use to scale across the country.

This role reports directly to a Tandem co-founder and is perfect for someone who loves early-stage building, thrives on hustle, and wants to see their work translate into visible market impact fast.

Your role

  • Be the Face of Tandem in Boston: Spend your days meeting office owners, operators, and brokers — building relationships and persuading them to list their spaces on Tandem.
  • Build & Manage a Supply Pipeline: Prospect, prioritize, and sign up spaces to ensure we have the best inventory for customers.
  • Support Demand Growth: Work closely with the demand team to ensure we have enough supply to meet customer needs and help coordinate tours and activations.
  • Create the Playbook: Document what works, refine our market-entry process, and set the standard for how Tandem launches new cities.
  • Represent the Market Internally: Surface insights on owner objections, market dynamics, and competitive landscape so we can adapt our strategy quickly.
  • Track Progress & Deliver Results: Own the numbers that matter — supply growth, activation, and conversion — and make sure Boston becomes a showcase market.

You may be a fit if…

  • You are energized by getting out of the building and meeting people face-to-face — you’d rather spend your day on site tours and in pitch meetings than behind a desk.
  • You have 4+ years of experience in management consulting (MBB or Tier 2) or in a growth/business operations role at a fast-growing startup.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and love turning a blank-slate challenge into a working system.
  • You have a bias for action and love closing loops quickly — when something needs to get done, you make it happen.
  • You are commercially savvy — you know how to explain a value proposition, negotiate, and get to yes.
  • You are a builder at heart — you want to be part of the team that sets the playbook for how Tandem scales.

Preferred qualifications

  • Track record of driving adoption or growth in a new market or vertical.
  • Experience with business development, partnerships, or landlord-facing roles.
  • Strong operational chops — you can juggle dozens of opportunities at once without dropping details.
  • Comfortable using data to inform decisions and prioritize your pipeline.
  • Plus if you’re from Boston / are very familiar with the city geography

Location

This role is Boston-based and will require frequent in-person meetings with landlords and tours of office spaces.
