What We’re Looking For:
Sugarfina is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and dependable Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations across a growing multi-brand, multi-subsidiary organization and support the Assistant Controller in maintaining accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will have significant ownership of the monthly close, general ledger, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, intercompany activity, accounts payable and receivable oversight, and accounting-related operational processes. The ideal candidate takes ownership, catches errors before they become problems, understands the business activity behind the numbers, and consistently meets deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day execution of the monthly close process across all brands and subsidiaries, including consolidation and inter-company activity.
- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
- Prepare and review accruals, prepaids, amortization, depreciation, and other month-end entries.
- Complete and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Analyze general ledger activity for unusual or unexpected transactions.
- Maintain the close calendar and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed within established deadlines in a 4-4-5 fiscal reporting environment.
- Support year-end close, external audit requirements, and SEC/public-company reporting readiness.
- Oversee the day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation of count results across inventory-holding operations.
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting, including COGS, inventory adjustments, freight/landed cost, reserves, and related reconciliations.
- Assist the Assistant Controller with consolidated management reporting, financial analysis, and reporting across subsidiaries, brands, channels, and departments.
- Supervise, train, and provide direction to accounting staff as assigned.
- Serve as a resource for accounting related questions and issues.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, documentation, and close efficiency as the company scales.
- Reduce manual day-to-day and month-end processes through better use of NetSuite, reporting tools, and workflow automation.
- Identify accounting issues and communicate them to the Assistant Controller promptly.
Education & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Prior experience supervising or leading accounting personnel preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and hands-on NetSuite experience required; NetSuite OneWorld and multi-subsidiary accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Demonstrated experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience.
- Experience with inventory accounting, multi-entity consolidations, and intercompany accounting strongly preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong sense of accountability and ownership.
