Requirements

Must-haves

  • 6+ years of full-stack development experience
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka in production environments
  • Deep understanding of secure coding practices
  • Experience with Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
  • Experience with React and Tailwind CSS
  • Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization at scale
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs
  • Experience translating Figma designs into production-ready components
  • Proficiency with AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor, etc.) and effective prompting
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English

What makes you stand out

  1. Proven Kafka in production: had built or maintained Kafka-based, event-driven systems
  2. Secure development in a fraud-sensitive environment: deep understanding of secure coding and has worked somewhere security mattered: fintech, payments, or PCI DSS exposure
  3. Database engineering at scale: strong in schema design, query writing, and performance tuning on high-volume data

Nice-to-haves

  • Startup experience
  • Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with fraud detection, anomaly detection, or financial data modeling
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS standards
  • Broader knowledge of message queue systems beyond Kafka

What you will work on

  • Build and maintain event-driven backend services using Kafka, Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
  • Design database schemas and write efficient, scalable queries in MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Write secure code for a fraud-sensitive platform, following PCI DSS best practices
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs, ensuring seamless integration with frontend applications
  • Contribute to the evolution of a microservices-based architecture
  • Build frontend components and views using React and Tailwind CSS based on Figma designs
  • Use AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor, etc.) to speed up development
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user-facing features
