Requirements
Must-haves
- 6+ years of full-stack development experience
- Experience with React Native and Expo, with production apps shipped to the App Store
- Experience with Next.js and TypeScript
- Experience with Node.js building and maintaining back-end services
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Stripe Connect and marketplace payments (e.g. split payments, payouts, manual capture, escrow, off-session charging, etc.)
- Deep understanding of testing strategies and test infrastructure across the stack
- Ability to work closely with designers and shape the product's look and feel
- Ability to own features end to end and communicate clearly, without a PM layer
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
Nice-to-haves
- Startup experience
- Marketplace or e-commerce background
- Experience with AI-native development workflows (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
What you will work on
- This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) for a 3-month contract
- The goal is to have a beautiful, fully working app by Diwali (October 2026), as the South Asian wedding season peaks at Diwali
- Own the entire codebase, working directly with the founder and in-house designer
- Build a polished iOS and Android app from the existing Next.js front-end
- Fix bugs and improve UX across the core rental flow, designed closely with the in-house designer in Figma
- Build a dry cleaning and garment care flow, including cost tracking per rental, condition flags, and lender reminders between rentals
- Stack: React Native iOS app plus a Next.js web app, on a Node and PostgreSQL backend with Stripe Connect. It's a two-sided fashion rental and resale marketplace.
