Star Catcher Industries, Inc. (Star Catcher), located in Jacksonville, FL, has an immediate opening for an Operations Specialist. We are seeking a reliable, high-energy, and hands-on individual to join our team in this entry-level role. This position is the heartbeat of our daily office and lab functions, ensuring our engineers and leadership have exactly what they need to build the future of aerospace. This role is ideal for someone looking to get their foot in the door of the space industry through hard work, organization, and a "get it done" attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Office & Lab Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment across our office and technical workspaces.
- Shipping & Receiving: Handle all incoming and outgoing mail and freight; verify shipments against packing slips and distribute parts to the correct teams.
- Inventory Management: Monitor supplies—from office snacks to basic hardware components—and restock items before they run out.
- Vendor Coordination: Meet delivery drivers, coordinate with cleaning or maintenance crews, and run local errands as needed to keep operations moving.
- Administrative Support: Assist with basic data entry, scanning documents, and helping set up rooms for meetings or team meals.
- Safety Support: Help ensure safety equipment (like first aid kits and fire extinguishers) is accessible and assist in maintaining a safe work floor.
- General "Fix-it" Tasks: Take initiative on small assembly tasks, moving furniture, or organizing storage areas to optimize our workspace.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a retail, warehouse, hospitality, or office environment; we are happy to train the right person.
- Reliability: A consistent track record of being on time and following through on assigned tasks.
- Physical Ability: Must be comfortable being on your feet for parts of the day and able to lift and move packages up to 40 lbs.
- Basic Tech Skills: Familiarity with email (Gmail/Outlook) and the ability to learn new software tools quickly.
- Strong Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and provide clear updates to the team.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot when supplies are low or when a shipment is missing a line item.
- Adaptability: A positive attitude when priorities change and a willingness to help out wherever is needed most.
Ideal Experience:
- Hands-on Background: Experience in a role that required physical organization or logistics (e.g., stockroom, delivery, or trades).
- Self-Starter: A history of taking initiative—if you see something that needs fixing or cleaning, you take care of it without being asked.
- Communication Tools: Familiarity with Slack or similar messaging apps for quick team coordination.
- File & Calendar Management: Familiarity with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets) or Microsoft 365 to keep digital files organized and assist with managing team calendars and schedules.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to use the internet or local resources to solve basic problems or find specific supplies.
