About the Role:
The Senior Interoperability Engineer is an engineering role responsible for helping to define and execute Pluto Health's data interoperability strategy. This individual will make major contributions to a team that builds, maintains, and optimizes secure, scalable integrations with a wide range of healthcare entities, including health systems, labs, and research organizations. The ideal candidate is an innovative, architecturally-minded engineer with deep experience in healthcare data standards and a proven track record of contributing to complex integration projects.
Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership:
Contribute to and help execute the overall interoperability strategy, aligning it with Pluto Health's product roadmap and business goals.
Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare data exchange standards, such as HL7, FHIR, and API-based integrations.
Contribute to and mentor a high-performing team of integration engineers and specialists.

Integration and Development:
Contribute significantly to the design, development, and maintenance of data integration projects, ensuring seamless and secure data exchange between Pluto Health and external partners.
Drive the implementation of scalable, automated data ingestion pipelines from diverse sources, including EHRs, labs, and HIEs.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate data mapping and normalization capabilities into the platform.

Stakeholder and Partner Management:
Participate in help manage key vendor relationships and evaluate potential partnerships to enhance interoperability capabilities.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to define integration requirements and ensure successful, on-time project delivery.
Help negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) for interoperability projects.

Compliance and Quality:
Ensure all data exchange processes adhere to stringent privacy and security standards, including HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
Help establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for interoperability performance and data quality.
Contribute to developing and maintaining comprehensive technical and business process documentation for all integrations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
10+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with at least 5 years in an engineering role focused on data integration and interoperability.
Deep expertise in healthcare data standards, including FHIR, HL7, and Consolidated CDA (C-CDA).
Significant experience in Typescript, NodeJS, Docker, Linux and AWS SAM is required. Experience in Go, Python and Intersystems ObjectScript is a plus.
Experience with current AI tools and processes.
Strong knowledge of database design, API management, and integration platforms.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to contribute to managing complex relationships with partners and vendors.
A strong understanding of healthcare privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Experience in a startup or fast-paced technology environment is highly desirable.

Compensation Range: $125K - $155K
