Job Description:

Safety Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE & Quality strategic roadmap that meets or exceeds internationally recognized HSE & Quality programs such as the World Bank Equator Principles.
  • Establish and lead the standardization of HSE processes, systems, metrics, and reporting globally, ensuring consistent application across all sites while integrating local regulatory compliance.
  • In collaboration with executive and site leadership teams, ensure HSE is integrated into business planning, engineering, manufacturing, Locational Operations and O&M.
  • In collaboration with executive and site leadership teams, implement risk identification, assessment, and detailed mitigation programs designed for the unique activities undertaken by each business unit.
  • Establish and deploy global programs for incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action management, and near-miss reporting, ensuring timely resolution and sharing of lessons learned.
  • Foster a culture of safety and health well-being, empowering teams to take ownership of health and safety practices..
  • Integrate safety-by-design principles in electrolyser engineering and manufacturing.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness, business continuity, and crisis management plans are developed, tested, and continuously improved across the company’s business units.
  • Develop and implement a strategic program for HSE integration and interface with company customers and customer project site EPCs, including construction emergency response integration and customer site specific emergency response planning.

Regulatory Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure company compliance with all local, regional, national, and international HSE regulations including India, the United States, the UAE and Spain.
  • Develop a new market entry HSE program to identify new market HSE requirements and implementation planning for relevant corporate operational groups, including developing strategic alliances.
  • Establish processes to monitor evolving global regulations related to manufacturing, hydrogen technologies, industrial gases, process safety, and workplace safety.
  • Serve as the company’s primary HSE interface with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, customers, insurers, and external auditors on safety-related matters.

Safety Governance & Performance

  • Define and track leading and lagging safety performance indicators.
  • Develop an industry leading audit, inspection, and management assessment program
  • Lead investigations of health, safety and environmental incidents while driving sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Present HSE performance, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Advise senior leadership on critical health and safety trends, emerging risks, and evolving regulations, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Organizational Capability Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing global safety organization.
  • Build and coordinate the delivery of training programs that equip employees, contractors, and leadership with the skills they need to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Coach business leaders and site leadership teams to enhance ownership and accountability for safety performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Quality Systems Oversight

  • Provide executive-level oversight of quality management systems to ensure alignment with operational and safety objectives.
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of quality frameworks, including ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards.
  • Collaborate with quality, operations, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive compliance, process discipline, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that safety and quality considerations are integrated into product realization, manufacturing, and field operations.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, HSE, Chemical Safety, law, or a related field from a premier institute;
  • NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) – BCSP
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (preferred)
  • Functional Safety Certification (TÜV / IEC 61508 / IEC 61511)
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by a State Technical Education Board or equivalent institution.
  • Process Safety Certification (CCPSC – Certified Process Safety Professional)
  • Lead Auditor Certification for ISO 45001
  • ISO 14001
  • ISO 9001
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environment leadership roles.
  • Minimum 8–10 years in senior leadership positions managing global safety programs.
  • Demonstrated experience building and sustaining standardized global HSE programs and driving safety culture transformation.
  • Expertise in chemical process safety, hazardous materials management, and global HSE regulations.
  • Prior exposure to hydrogen, industrial gases, process industries, renewable energy, clean energy technologies, or high-hazard manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.

The Senior Director, Safety and Quality will be accountable for the company's global Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) strategy across the company’s manufacturing facilities, engineering operations, product installation and commissioning at customer construction locations (Locational Operations), and the company’s operations and maintenance platform (O&M).

The role requires a seasoned safety leader with demonstrated experience in multinational organizations that operate on a global platform. The primary focus of the role is to design, implement, and sustain a globally standardized, risk-based HSE program that emphasizes continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, process safety excellence, and a safety-first culture at all levels of the organization.

In addition, the role will provide strategic oversight and governance support for quality management systems to ensure alignment between safety, operational excellence, and product quality objectives.
