Job Summary

As the Controller at NineDot Energy, you will be a key member of our finance leadership team, overseeing the accounting department and directly managing corporate and project accounting managers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of a growing organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Manage the month-end and quarter-end close processes with strict adherence to reporting deadlines.
    • Review and approve complex journal entries, including those related to construction work in progress and financing-related expenses.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and mentor a team consisting of an Accounting Analyst, a Senior Accountant and accounting managers.
    • Provide guidance on accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the accounting team.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Conduct quarterly flux analysis of assigned entities to identify and analyze fluctuations in financial data.
    • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Build out accounting policies and procedures.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting the renewable energy sector.
    • Implement and oversee compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure corporate governance requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience in a similar role within the renewable energy industry is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP experience is a plus) and MS Office productivity suites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Preference for prior energy or clean energy experience.
