Job Summary

Water Sampler, QC Microbiologist (Fixed Term Contract) position will be responsible for QC microbiology laboratory testing and environmental monitoring, including sample preparation, microbial analysis (LAL, bioburden, identification), and data documentation in compliance with cGMP standards.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare supplies for water and gas sampling.
  • Perform material transfer for water and EM supplies as per established procedures.
  • Sample, log-in and distribute water and gas samples as per established procedures.
  • Perform bioburden analysis of water samples as per established procedures.
  • Perform microbial analysis of water and compressed gases
  • Participate in daily water sampling of manufacturing plant that could involve heights over 3 meters.
  • Prepare weekly water reports as per established procedures.
  • Participate in scheduled cleaning and other laboratory housekeeping duties.
  • Report any anomalies between sampling procedures and available points of use to Supervisor/Manager.
  • Execute sampling related to validation performance qualification protocols for the water system.
  • Report to supervisor any deviations from company procedures, or other discrepancies that may affect product quality or cGMP status according to established procedures.
  • Ensure water sampling documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with cross training of other staff who will support water and gas sampling activities.
  • Assist in investigative sampling and participate in identifying root causes related to water system excursions.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • This position may require shift work on weekends (Saturday or Sunday)
  • 18-month fixed term contract

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of GMP.
  • Excellent aseptic technique and good working knowledge of preventing microbial contamination.
  • Knowledge of compendial test requirements, US and Europe Pharmacopeia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data analysis, statistics and report preparation with knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook an asset.
  • College diploma in a scientific discipline with 1-year related experience in a microbiology lab environment an asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute instructions in accordance with SOPs, and other documentation
  • Pre-employment medical and medical re-examination; inclusive of eye examination and colour blindness test, performed every 2 years or as per RESILIENCE's SOPs
  • This position requires vaccination for Hepatitis A and B
  • Job requires shift work, weekends and occasional extended shifts and possible short notice schedule shift changes
