MaxLinear is seeking a highly skilled Staff Systems Engineer to join our Systems team at the Valencia Design Center. In this role, you will lead functional and non-functional testing for our cutting-edge embedded software and systems. You will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers to develop MaxLinear’s next-generation communication infrastructure System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions. As a Staff System Integration Test Engineer, you will ensure the quality and robustness of our communication systems. Your key responsibilities include:

• Review system specifications provided by design teams
• Analyze functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring testability for effective test plan design
• Design and implement test procedures to validate system requirements and measure system performance indicators during both Pre-silicon and Post-silicon phases
• Automate system-level test suites using scripting languages (Python) and lab instrumentation APIs, aiming for maximum automation across all phases
• Use and collaborate to maintain and enhance existing cloud-based test infrastructure for assigned projects
• Collaborate closely with software and hardware design engineers to align testing with development goals
• Execute, analyze, and report system test results, providing actionable insights
• Track and report defects, verify fixes, and ensure resolution
• Contribute to processes improvements by implemeting new methodologies, tools, and workflows to boost team efficiency

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering with 6+ years of relevant industry experience, OR
  • Master’s in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong background in systems testing
  • Knowledge of RF and digital communication systems hardware / software
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments (e.g. spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope)
  • Good Python programming skills
• Soft Skills:
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues from other departments, local or remote
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about efficiency
  • Open to learning new technologies, tools, and programming languages
• Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:
  • Understanding of IP networking
  • ISTQB Foundation Level Certification or higher
  • Linux OS knowledge
  • Embedded systems experience
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with communication technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi)
