KoBold Metals Zambia is the Zambian affiliate of KoBold Metals, a U.S.-based company exploring around the world for battery metals using proprietary AI to guide exploration decisions. Our business is discovering, defining, expanding, and developing mineral resources, and our objective is to achieve a step-change improvement in exploration success resulting in more tier 1 resources discovered faster, with fewer failures, and with far less exploration capital.

KoBold Metals Zambia is building a rapidly growing team of Zambian geologists, operators, and executives to identify, acquire, explore, and develop exploration opportunities and mineral resources drawing upon KoBold’s technology and the expertise of colleagues worldwide.

About the position

This role requires an experienced administrative professional with exceptional organizational, communication and multi-tasking skills who is a self-starter and can perform effectively in a dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities. Candidates must be comfortable working independently without direct supervision, as well as work closely with multiple stakeholders, both local and abroad.

Responsibilities

The duties of the Human Resources Officer will include but are not limited to the following:

Human Resources Management:

  • Assist with onboarding of new employees.
  • Coordinate time and attendance management on site and ensure time sheets and payroll related inputs are submitted to the HR Manager by the stipulated deadline.
  • Provide support with HR matters on site related to employee welfare, medical scheme queries, payroll queries, leave management, disciplinary and grievance handling and appropriately escalate these matters to the HR Manager.
  • Guide employees on Company policies and Zambia labour law provisions.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system of all records and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Assist with planning meetings and events, including arranging for catering, booking locations, and distributing information.
  • Support KoBold Metals Zambia's HR Manager as required.

Administration:

  • Coordinate travel, hotel, and car reservations in liaison with Lusaka Administration team.
  • Order office supplies and maintain office facilities.
  • Support mail distribution and courier requests.

Finance:

  • Coordinate petty cash issuance and retirement of receipts.

Qualifications

The HR Officer candidate must have:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Diploma in business related field. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management would be an advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in an HR related role.
  • Ability to create, edit, proofread, and format documents and /presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A high degree of independence and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Experience working in the mineral exploration industry.
  • Knowledge of Zambia Labour laws.
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
