How You Will Achieve More:

Intellia Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Director, Patient Access Lead to establish and lead a critical function in preparing for the successful launch of lonvo-z, our groundbreaking investigational therapy in phase 3 of development for the treatment of hereditary angioedema (HAE). This is a career-defining opportunity to be a team leader for the first-ever commercialization of an in vivo one-time CRISPR based therapy, requiring a visionary leader who can build and inspire high-performing teams while navigating uncharted territory in genetic medicine.

This field team leader will develop and execute strategies to ensure sites are fully prepared to administer lonvo-z from an access perspective, while also leading the patient access team (6-8 patient access managers) to eliminate access and reimbursement barriers for providers and patients.

Responsibilities:

Patient Access/ Field Reimbursement Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing field reimbursement/patient access team to proactively support providers and patients in overcoming access and reimbursement challenges.
  • Develop strategic solutions to address coverage, coding, and payment issues related to lonvo-z.
  • Working closely with Strategic Account Leads, Payer Account Team, Hub, and case managers to develop strategies to mitigate barriers to access
  • Lead team through center profiling to assess access readiness for activation and launch
  • Work closely with payers, providers, and patient advocacy groups to ensure lonvo-z is accessible and affordable.
  • Contribute to the creation of reimbursement tools, resources, and educational materials to support field teams and provider partners.
  • Contribute to the development of patient access manager training materials as well as lead onboarding of the newly created team

Access and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison with key external stakeholders, including healthcare administrators, infusion centers, and reimbursement personnel, to foster collaboration and address barriers.
  • Partner with market access and policy lead to monitor and respond to changes in reimbursement environments and healthcare policies impacting lonvo-z.
  • Advocate for patients and providers by addressing challenges related to patient access and site readiness, ensuring a patient-centric approach to implementation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Team leadership and Development

  • Quickly recruit and hire high caliber talent by leveraging expansive network
  • Manage and mentor patient access team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Set clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team to ensure the successful execution of objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on site readiness, reimbursement challenges, and access-related progress.

About You:

  • Deep understanding of infusion-based therapies, site operations, channel dynamics including reimbursement implications, billing & coding, and payer dynamics in the U.S. healthcare system.
  • Ability to navigate CGT reimbursement complexities such as single case agreements.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement access site readiness strategies and resolve reimbursement challenges.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and build strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape.
  • Results-driven self-starter with a strong sense of accountability, performance orientation, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Organized and logical with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities, with a high degree of flexibility to pivot as needed.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance regulations and payer reimbursement policies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to navigate complex access and operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with human resources to attract, hire, develop, and motivate top industry talent to ensure the highest performance standards.
  • Proven track record of successfully partnering cross functionally to build and lead the establishment of a new function and organizational capabilities.
  • Management and oversight of team budget and resourcing
  • Proven track record of introducing novel, impactful approaches that challenge convention and accelerate the delivery of innovative therapies to patients.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to engage with sites, field teams, and stakeholders. Travel may be up to 60%.
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, healthcare administration, or related field. Advanced degree preferred (MBA, PharmD).
  • 10+ years of experience in access site readiness, field reimbursement, or market access in the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry, including 3-5 years in field reimbursement leadership.
  • Prior US launch experience is required
  • Experience with cell and gene therapy, other highly specialized or one-time therapies required
  • Experience in competitive rare diseases is preferred
  • Experience in HAE is preferred
