What is special about this role?
In this role, you will be working on cross company initiatives from data privacy to developer experience, delivering critical platform projects for a leading genomics company. You will lead initiatives involving agentic AI and design systems and patterns for engineers at Helix. Your role will impact the company as a whole and improve how engineering operates and interacts with Data.
This team is at the intersection of where data is produced, processed and used. It is a critical role which ensures that data collected translates to data which can be used in a compliant manner. We act as the interface between Engineering & downstream data users.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • System Design & Stability: Leverage expertise in software engineering to design stable and efficient systems.
  • Automation & Workflows: Design, build, and maintain automation and agentic workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Drive and champion strong engineering best practices within the team.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and product managers across various teams to develop shared solutions.
  • Optimizing Developer Experience: Focus on improving the developer experience, particularly regarding integration with Agentic AI.
  • Business Impact: Contribute to a range of business and operational areas, including privacy, engineering tooling, and internal tools, with a direct impact on scaling our core operations and meeting revenue commitments.
About you:
  • Strong enthusiasm for AI technologies, such as Agentic AI, with practical experience using AI tools and knowledge of current AI trends to improve work processes.
  • Experience provisioning infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CDK).
  • Strong architectural experience, including the ability to identify poor design patterns and accurately weigh the pros and cons of different designs.
  • You have >4 years of experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive projects to completion.
  • Proficiency with programming languages like Python, Go, Javascript/Typescript, Ruby, Java, C#, or C++.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to find solutions.
  • Excellent English skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Pluses:
  • Experience with managing, developing, or designing (CI/CD) deployment & integration pipelines
  • Personal projects demonstrating initiative and drive
  • Interest in platform engineering, software architecture, infrastructure, or software design
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing data pipelines that support critical business operations.
  • Experience working with regulated software, with familiarity with CLIA/CAP or HIPAA regulations

  • Competitive Compensation: A strong base salary plus an annual performance bonus and Helix equity.
    • Expected Helix Base: $101,333 - $131,145 MXN/monthly
    • Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 5% of your annual salary

  • Equity: We offer generous equity at Helix. If you receive a Helix offer your recruiter will book dedicated time with you to educate you on our equity model.
  • Allowances & Stipends:
    • Home Office Stipend: we will reimburse up to $500 USD for essential workspace items, so you are fully equipped to perform your best.
    • Phone Allowance: 700 MXP monthly.
    • In-Office Perks: 80 MXP daily for transport and 250 MXP daily for snacks on office days.

  • Hybrid & Remote Flexibility:
    • Hybrid: Our office is located at WeWork - Varsovia, Mexico City. We gather intentionally in our office space once per week to work on things like pair programming/live collaboration, skillshare sessions, social segments, team lunches, and volunteering opportunities. Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.
    • Remote (for team members living 80 km or more outside Mexico City): We'll invite you to our CDMX office 3-6 times a year for key training and team meetings. These visits are a great chance to connect in person and strengthen our Helix community. Helix cover travel and accommodation.
What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
  • First 30 days: you’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.
  • Day 30 - 60: you’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.
  • Day 60 - 90: you’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.

Compensation
