POSITION OVERVIEW
Harbor Health is seeking a team-oriented Admixture Pharmacy Technician to join our Park Bend Infusion Clinic. As a pharmacy technician in our infusion clinic, you will accurately compound ambulatory infusion medications. This role bridges clinical operations, revenue cycle coordination, inventory management, and patient care to ensure seamless treatment delivery from order entry to post-treatment billing.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Clinic Operations & Patient Care
Provide front desk coverage, check in and room patients, review financial responsibilities, and collect applicable payments.
Review schedules daily to identify and resolve medication, financial, insurance, or authorization issues prior to treatment.
Prepare scheduled medications and execute required order reviews.
Maintain clinic safety by completing daily logs for emergency medication boxes, medication storage temperatures, the eyewash station, lobby, and bathroom.
Sterile Compounding & Quality Compliance
Prepare patient-specific sterile medications, biologics, and infusion therapies utilizing aseptic techniques compliant with USP <797> and organizational policies.
Calculate, measure, label, and document preparations accurately while maintaining batch records and monitoring beyond-use dating.
Perform independent verification of preparation steps and calculations as required.
Operate and maintain biological safety cabinets, laminar airflow workbenches, refrigerators, and temperature monitoring systems.
Perform environmental monitoring, clean compounding areas, and promptly report any medication variances or safety issues.
Order Management & Billing Support
Review new infusion orders, double-checking patient details, drug, dose, frequency, and signatures before routing to Revenue Cycle.
Proactively schedule patients for long-interval treatments for appropriate follow-up.
Review upcoming appointments two weeks in advance to compare athena billing summaries against Revenue Cycle estimates, identifying discrepancies or balances.
Perform drug-administration reconciliation for specialty-pharmacy and self-pay claims to verify codes and prevent duplicate billing.
Discuss manufacturer copay assistance with eligible patients, coordinate signatures, and complete enrollment.
Track potential missing claims for Billing and Coding teams to investigate.
Drug & Supply Management
Order pharmaceuticals twice weekly, manage inventory records, and track returns and backorders internally and through wholesaler.
Maintain the primary inventory spreadsheet used by the practice manager to review invoices and approve payments.
Monitor medication expiration dates and manage controlled documentation for medication receipt, waste, and disposal.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Required
Active, unrestricted pharmacy technician license in the State of Texas.
IV Sterile Compounding certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in hospital, specialty, or infusion pharmacy settings.
Computer literacy with ability to navigate electronic health record systems.
Excellent clinical, customer service, and professional communication skills with a proven ability to function independently within a team setting.
Preferred
Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems to support clinical and operational workflows, specifically athenahealth.
Strong working knowledge of USP <797> compliance and specialty revenue cycle management.
Active CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA.
Physical Requirements
Capacity to handle exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases.
Ability to push/pull heavy objects and lift up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate sterile supplies, needles, and vials.
