About the Role:
As a Team Lead on our Platform team, you will lead and manage the team building the foundational infrastructure that powers our entire commerce ecosystem. You'll play a pivotal role in transforming our platform architecture to support rapid scaling, owning the core systems that serve our external users (agencies, brand partners, and self-serve customers) while enabling internal teams to build and ship features with greater speed and confidence. At this exciting inflection point, you'll help scale our backend platform to support an order of magnitude increase in brands, usage, and products.
Your work will directly impact every engineering team at FERMÀT as they interact with and leverage the platform you build. You'll strike the perfect balance between shipping new capabilities quickly and establishing sustainable infrastructure that can handle our ambitious growth plans. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of our platform while creating intuitive, self-serve functionality that allows our customers to scale their experimental operations with minimal friction.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable backend services powering our AI-driven personalization engine
Manage and grow a small team of 4 engineers, ensuring both velocity and quality
Architect robust solutions across our platform stack—including cart functionality, checkout flows, and offer management
Collaborate with product teams to transform manual processes into self-serve capabilities
Coach engineers to maximize their impact and growth
Partner with internal stakeholders and customer-facing teams to ship critical features
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in software engineering, including 1+ years in managing a team
Proficient in Go, Python, or other modern backend languages
Strong understanding of distributed systems design and scaling microservices
Deep knowledge of API design principles and best practices
Familiarity with data warehouses and other storage systems (relational databases, key-value stores, cloud buckets, etc.)
Comfortable discussing and debating strategic engineering and product decisions
Thrive in ambiguity and rapid change
Energized by startup momentum and take ownership in transforming complex challenges into elegant solutions
Nice to Haves:
Experience with GraphQL API design
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Previous experience in eCommerce or AdTech domains
Experience with subscription-based payment models
