Lab Network Engineer Interns will learn routing and switching protocols using Extreme Networks multi-layer Ethernet switches. Students will learn how to design, implement, and troubleshoot networks working in the Technical Service Operations Team in Salem, New Hampshire. They will interface directly with local team members daily to:
· Train on Extreme Networks products, routing & switching protocols, & lab operations.
· Setup lab topologies used for technical support to resolve customer’s network issues.
· Help with lab network infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
· Demonstrate technical, critical thinking, and communication skills to solve problems
· Setup networking equipment for GTAC (Technical Support) and Professional Services and assist with replicating software, hardware, and configuration issues
· Responsible for lab operations (racking, cabling, troubleshooting, managing equipment, ISO compliance, etc.)
· Manage backlog of lab support cases in Salesforce in a prioritized fashion
· Manage lab equipment and user access in a centralized reservation system
· Participate in emergency events such as power outages and planned or unplanned maintenance
· Grow in this role through learning on the job, passing Extreme certifications, and contributing to improvements in lab operations and processes
Success for this internship position is based on the following:
· Supporting internal customers with lab setups with increasing complexity over time
· Contributing to lab infrastructure projects, lab documentation, and process improvements
· Keeping a positive attitude when challenged and under pressure with time constraints
Qualifications
· Pursuing a college degree in technology
· Passion for computer networking and solving problems
· Basic networking knowledge including Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSI model, routing and switching
· Experience with client OS’s (Windows, Linux, MacOS)
· Familiarity with server virtualization (e.g. VMware, HyperV, KVM).
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Experience in customer service is a plus.
· Certifications are a plus (e.g. Network+, CCNA, CWNA, etc.)
