Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.

Job Summary: This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has both deep technical and leadership experience, with leadership in a startup being a bonus. This manager will lead the AI/ML work at Epirus. This role will report to the Director of System Engineering and will work with a cross-functional team in order to manage the conception, designing, building, testing, marketing, selling, and sustaining Epirus systems product line.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and realize the strategic product roadmap for the Epirus AI/ML and future system product lines.
• Lead, develop, and realize the strategic roadmap for Epirus's internal AI/ML capabilities and processes.
• Generate Product Requirements for future systems, considering cost, anticipated customer needs, and manufacturability.
• Lead a robust risk and opportunity management process.
• Contribute to proposal coordination across departments to ensure successful customer negotiations, compliant proposal structure, incorporation of win themes, competitive intelligence, and pricing of the proposals to win.
• Responsible for providing technical product marketing direction and training related to products.
• Contribute and where appropriate manage market technical analyst relations and customer feedback council relations.

Basic Qualifications:

• PhD, or MS + 5 or Bachelor + 7 in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar.
• Proven track record of architecting and delivering real-world ML products.
• Demonstrable understanding of machine learning, statistics, and probability theory, with a large repertoire of problem-solving strategies.
• Solid understanding of full-cycle ML production, from early-ideation to productization.
• Ability to communicate effectively and mentor younger engineers.
• Experience with perception/sensor fusion systems
• Willingness to contribute directly to our code-base.
• Experience with Onboard implementation of ML algorithm like ORIN
• Deep knowledge of software architecture optimizing ML code and trade off performance on CPU, GPU usage, effect on latency, Power usage

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience or understanding of deploying ML onto embedded firmware.
  • Experience with distributed training and debugging problems on local clusters.
  • Experience with Linux-based OS
  • Focused on achieving business objectives, creative problem solving, and employing a growth-mindset, while defining and supporting a responsible, strategic, compliant and ethical approach to business challenges.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to work locally in Torrance, California (Los Angeles metro)

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:
$217,800$271,600 USD
