Our platform connects Americans with vetted and verified healthcare providers worldwide. We started with the hair, beard, and eyebrow transplant market but are hiring you to expand into IVF, dental, vision correction, and orthopedics. Our mission is to create a world where anyone, anywhere can access the best care without the barriers of cost or location.

The Opportunity

As our first engineering hire, you’ll play a defining role in shaping both our product and our technical culture. Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll collaborate closely with the CEO (also an engineer), our product designer, and early team to build the systems that power Doctours from the ground up. You’ll own the design and development of AI-driven workflows that deepen our platform’s intelligence — from automating patient communications to analyzing medical images and estimating treatment prices. This is a rare chance to build end-to-end in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where your work will immediately reach real users. 

What You'll Do

• Build AI Workflows from End to End: Design, train, and deploy AI-driven features that automate core parts of our business — from customer service use cases like confirming appointments and responding to FAQs, to processing medical images and estimating personalized procedure pricing.

• Develop and Ship Product Features: Own major parts of our Next.js web application, integrating AI workflows built in Python and ensuring seamless performance across front-end and back-end.

• Architect Scalable Systems: Work closely with our CTO to design and implement robust infrastructure that will help us scale from a single market company to supporting multiple medical markets. You'll make decisions that balance experimentation speed with long-term stability.

• Collaborate Across the Team: Partner tightly with our CEO (also an engineer), designer, and early team to rapidly iterate on product experience. You’ll contribute to product thinking, design reviews, and overall technical strategy.

• Ship Fast, Learn Faster: We’re early, so you’ll be hands-on across the stack — debugging issues, refining workflows, testing hypotheses, and helping define engineering best practices as we grow.

Who You Are

• A highly capable and curious engineer who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments — comfortable going from big-picture architecture to hands-on debugging in a single day.

• You spend more money on Claude than your rent.

• A strong full-stack developer with deep experience in Next.js, Python, and PostgreSQL, and an appreciation for clean, maintainable code.

• A builder at heart who loves crafting smooth user experiences as much as designing systems that scale.

• A proactive communicator who collaborates easily with designers, founders, and other engineers, and enjoys working in a tight-knit early-stage team where every contribution has visible impact.

• Passionate about Doctours’ mission to expand access to healthcare globally and curious about how technology — especially AI — can remove barriers to care.

Location

This is a full-time position, in-person at our San Francisco HQ (we can make exceptions for stellar candidates who want to work remote)
