People Operations Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented People Operations Specialist with at least 5 years of experience in HR operations. This individual will be responsible for managing payroll, benefits administration, and core HR processes, while also contributing to ad hoc HR projects that support our evolving people strategy. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong foundation in HR compliance and administration, and enjoys collaborating across teams to deliver excellent employee experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll & Benefits Administration
    • Own end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Administer benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, leave of absence, and wellness initiatives.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • HR Operations
    • Maintain HRIS data integrity, employee records, and compliance documentation.
    • Partner with Finance to reconcile payroll and benefits costs.
    • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Assist in compliance reporting (EEO, ACA, audits, etc.).
  • Employee Support & Engagement
    • Respond to day-to-day HR inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
    • Provide guidance to employees on HR policies and practices.
    • Support People & Culture initiatives to enhance employee experience.
  • Projects & Initiatives
    • Contribute to special HR projects such as policy updates, HR process improvements, and system implementations.
    • Assist with performance management cycles, learning initiatives, and engagement surveys as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR generalist or HR operations experience, preferably in a high growth, fast paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with payroll, benefits, HR compliance, and employment laws.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Lattice, ADP, Workday, BambooHR, or similar).
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service mindset.
