Meet the Team
The Cloud + AI Infrastructure (CAI) team delivers scalable strategy with local execution for data center customer transformation and growth. The CAI Global Enterprise Segment desires to bring onboard a hardworking Solutions Engineer (SE), that will be working as a trusted advisor and partner to top Enterprise Organizations.
Your Impact
As a Cloud and AI Infrastructure Solutions Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the success of the Cisco Field Sales teams in selling and positioning data center virtualization and system architecture solutions effectively against competing offerings.
- Partner with our Account Executives in a pre-sales technical role, showcasing Cisco product solutions-setting up demonstrations and explaining features and benefits to customers-and designing and configuring products to meet specific customer needs
- Build awareness, fostering education and driving energy for Cloud and AI with both internal and external team members, partners, etc.
- Act as a link between technical teams, account teams, executives, partners/customers.
- Play a meaningful role in the design, development and promotion of the technical solutions and address challenges.
- Travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
- Keep up-to-date on relevant competitors’ solutions, products and services
- Deliver and/or support delivery of technical presentations to customers, as well as deliver architecture selling concept and methodology to customers

You are able to demystify complex technology solutions to senior technical leaders and executives. You have experience in designing scalable data center networking fabrics for high performing GPUaaS workloads. Experience with all related DCN networking protocols & products: ethernet, IP, switching, routing, fast convergence, QoS, EVPN, ACI, VXLAN, etc. Storage networking protocols: fibre channel, iSCSI, NFS/CiFS, storage multi-pathing, RoCE, InfiniBand. You can understand complex technical and selling situations and know how to handle the challenges or solicit the required resources.
**This role requires a deep understanding of Data Center Compute and Networking.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of related experience and/or Cisco experience required.
- Confirmed technical knowledge and consultative skills and able to train and disseminate information.
- Knowledge and understanding of networking protocols and technologies
- Verifiable written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years knowledge of any combination of Datacenter, Storage, Compute, Apps, Big Data, Converged Infrastructure, AI infrastructure or Data Center Networking experience
- Excellent presentation skills – ability to deliver engaging workshops to both technical and non-technical audiences on Data Center, Cloud, and/or AI topics
- Experience with Nvidia, IBM, Microsoft, Dell, NetApp, HPE, and/or other AI vendors
- Experience working with and/or supporting containerization technologies (e.g., Docker or equivalent experience) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) for scalable and efficient model deployment.
- Experienced in the design and/or deployment of Data Center solutions including traditional DC standalone design, VXLAN and SDN solutions (Cisco ACI, NXOS EVPN)
- Expert level certification in the DCN space; CCNP, CCIE R&S and/or Data Center CCIE certification highly desirable and/or preferred.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
