The Cloud Security group within SBG focuses on developing cloud delivered security solutions (SaaS based) in a platform centric approach. This group is an autonomous group within the business group, and operates like a Startup to nurture innovation in a highly disruptive and high growth domain. This group was formed a year back by combining some of existing cloud assets Cisco had with two hugely successful acquisitions - OpenDNS. Our vision is to build the most complex security solutions in a cloud delivered way with utmost simplicity - disrupt industry's thinking around how deep and how broad a security solution can be while keeping it easy to deploy and simple to lead. We are at an exciting stage of this journey with 100% YoY growth, and looking for a passionate, innovative and committed engineering leader for our Product Engineering group to help us scale our business.

Business applications have moved to cloud. Enterprise's critical infrastructure has been moving to public/private cloud. At the same time, threat landscape has drastically changed with increased sophistication of attacks. The notion of traditional perimeter-based security is being redefined. Since users, apps and infrastructure have all moved to cloud, security must too. We are looking for hard-working Sr software engineers to help us migrate, launch and operate the next generation of the Umbrella cloud security / Cisco Secure Access platform in an AWS GovCloud-native environment to dramatically expand access to the US government market. Our focus is on expanding the platform's reach to FedRAMP (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) marketplace.

Our engineering team is composed of highly skilled individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous, and technically challenging environment. Members are involved with all stages of the product development process from solving complex engineering problems to working directly with customers.

What You’ll Do

You are a Senior Software Engineer that enjoys wearing many hats. You have experience building, scaling and operating software’s in cloud-native environments. A self-starter that's willing to jump headfirst into the codebase and start improving it immediately. You stay on top of industry best practices and you’ve successfully established relationships with engineering teams based on collaboration, empathy, and the pursuit of excellence.

Who You Are

  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • Professional experience in cloud-native development using Java/J2EE or Golang.
  • Experience as a senior engineer in highly transactional, 24x7 production cloud and SaaS environments.
  • Working experience in DB Technologies like RDS/Aurora DB/DynamoDB
  • Strong coding and problem-solving skills with a quality shift-left mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful API implementation.
  • Proficiency with SCM, CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GIT.
  • In-depth knowledge of design patterns, OOP concepts, and distributed computing & Protocols like HTTP/HTTPS/TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, SAML & concepts like Authentication/Authorization, Encryption/Hashing, etc
  • Experience with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker, EKS, and ECS along with IaC like Terraform/ Terragrunt.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills and have the experience in preparing RCA.
  • Ability to work in an agile delivery mode with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor team members.
  • Experience working with multi-location and multi-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced deployment strategies, such as blue/green and canary deployments.
  • Experience in building or maintaining software, libraries, and infrastructure to meet FedRAMP, SOC2, or ISO27001 compliance.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies, monitoring, observability tools, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with CIS hardening benchmarks and vulnerability scanning.
  • Experience with technologies like Kafka, Redis, and NoSQL databases.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
