Full job description
WoodChuck helps divert construction and demolition materials from landfills by recovering and processing them for sustainable recycling and beneficial reuse. We’re seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to lead daily site operations, oversee field personnel, and ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
As the senior on-site leader, you'll manage production, equipment, crews, subcontractors, and client coordination while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Project Location: This position begins with an assignment in New Carlisle, IN.
What You'll Do
- Lead all day-to-day field operations for WoodChuck’s material recovery program.
- Supervise Foremen, equipment operators, laborers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and execute daily and weekly work plans to achieve production goals.
- Coordinate material recovery, processing, transportation, and outbound shipments.
- Manage site logistics, equipment utilization, staffing, and operational priorities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct site walks, safety meetings, and production reviews.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance to maximize uptime.
- Track production metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of field personnel.
- Maintain accurate operational reporting and communication with company leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of leadership experience in construction, demolition, recycling, waste management, forestry, aggregate, land clearing, site development, material processing, or a related industry.
- Proven success managing field operations, multiple crews, heavy equipment, and production-driven projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Solid understanding of safety compliance, workforce management, and field logistics.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Experience with union labor environments is a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience in material recovery, recycling, demolition, waste management, or aggregate operations.
- Familiarity with grinders, shredders, screens, balers, conveyors, or similar processing equipment.
- Experience launching new sites or scaling operations.
- CDL preferred but not required.
