BRT Biotechnologies is a scrappy start-up building an ultra-high-throughput platform for macrocyclic peptide drug discovery. We’re hiring a Ph.D.-level chemist (or an exceptional M.S.) to contribute to our core peptide library synthesis and to own R&D projects that expand our capabilities. Those projects range from high-throughput LC/MS methods to new synthetic workflows and assays. Peptide, medicinal, and analytical chemists with hands-on synthesis experience are encouraged to apply, especially those with high-throughput experience.

About BRT Biotechnologies, Inc.

BRT Biotechnologies is aiming to drug the undruggable. Our proprietary platform allows for ultra-high-throughput synthesis of small molecule libraries that can be directly screened for activity.

Who we are

BRT Biotechnologies aims to be the go-to partner for macrocyclic drug discovery. Our proprietary platform enables ultra-high-throughput synthesis of macrocyclic peptide libraries that can be screened directly for activity. We are a small, scrappy start-up. You will wear multiple hats, build workflows that don’t exist yet, and have direct visibility into, and influence on, where the company goes next.

What you will do

You will contribute to our core library synthesis (roughly 60% of your time), and you will own R&D projects that expand what our platform can do (roughly 40%).

Library synthesis

  • Run solution-phase and solid-phase peptide synthesis for our library production workflows.

  • Analyze products by LC/MS and HPLC, interpret the data, and troubleshoot as needed.

  • Help improve the robustness, throughput, and quality of our existing processes.

R&D projects (depending on your strengths and company needs)

  • Analytical: develop high-throughput analytical methods and data workflows for library analysis.

  • Synthetic: identify promising chemistry in the literature and adapt it into new, scalable synthetic workflows.

  • Assays and workflows: build new assays or screening workflows that extend our capabilities.

Across both

  • Work closely with the chemistry team to set research priorities and plan experiments.

  • Share expertise with colleagues and help train others on specialized equipment and techniques.

  • Keep the lab safe, organized, and running well.

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field, or an M.S. with strong, relevant industry experience.

  • Hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry.

  • Experience acquiring and interpreting LC/MS data.

  • Ability to independently plan experiments, read the literature critically, and drive a project forward.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred qualifications

  • Solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) experience.

  • Background in peptide chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or analytical chemistry with hands-on synthesis.

  • Experience with high-throughput synthesis or high-throughput assays.

  • Track record of developing new methods, assays, or workflows.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, small-team environment.

Level (Scientist vs. Senior Scientist) will be based on degree and experience. If you don’t meet every qualification but are excited about this role, we encourage you to apply.

BRT culture

Our team is empathetic, caring, and supportive. We are deliberate about the culture we are building and look for people who are not only great scientists, but who care about each other’s growth. We are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

Compensation

Salary depends on seniority; participation in the Company's option plan, benefits, flexible hours, paid time off.

BRT Biotechnologies is an equal opportunity employer.
