What You Will Do
- Build out our wafer handling automation and measurement software in Python, from implementing new features to interfacing with custom hardware and instruments
- Work on existing test and measurement software to roll out updates and bug fixes
- Debug issues when they show up, whether in the software or in the hardware
- Write code the rest of the team can maintain: typed, documented, and reviewed
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Strong object oriented programming skills. You know how to split a problem into classes without coupling everything together,and where to section things off
- Strong debugging skills, ability to narrow down the problem and trace it down without giving up, regardless of the source of the issue
- Familiar with common design patterns and software architectures. Good judgement, and you plan out how to structure code before writing it
- Able to work independently at times. We will point you in the right direction, but you should be comfortable making good design decisions on your own
- Strong understanding of Python, ability to write maintainable and extendable code
- Understanding of multithreaded programs and principles
- Scripting experience for writing out test cases and one-off experiments
- Organized and detail-oriented, should document progress while working
- Comfortable with using Git and GitHub
- Good coding etiquette and solid communication skills
- Experience writing hardware drivers and/or controlling lab equipment
- GUI development experience, specifically PyQt6
- Any hands-on lab or hardware background, or at least a desire to learn about hardware and electronics as development progresses
- Hardware communication protocols (I2C, SPI, etc)
