About the role:

This position involves developing and supporting mechanical designs for advanced optical components and systems. The mechanical engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to capture product concepts, document component and process flows, and perform analytical studies on material and packaging performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain mechanical models and drawings of the latest optical product designs using SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with electrical, optical, and process engineers to document and visualize design concepts and product architecture.
  • Capture and document component flow across assembly and test processes.
  • Support material and packaging selection, including epoxy and mechanical housing choices.
  • Perform thermal, structural, and strain analyses, including root-sum-square (RSS) tolerance analysis, to ensure mechanical reliability and performance.
  • Generate detailed visualizations and renderings for engineering reviews and design presentations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design documentation and engineering workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Experience with rendering and visualization tools such as SolidWorks Visualize.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and report generation.
  • Familiarity with COMSOL or equivalent for multiphysics simulations is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of thermal and structural analysis principles, materials behavior, and mechanical design for assembly and manufacturability.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
