About the role:

Experienced engineer with strong technical background in the field of micro-optics, from optical design through micro-optics assembly and manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of multi-lens micro-optics components and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead role in developing micro-optics lens systems
  • Design and simulate the performance of functional 3D micro-optical structures such as multi-element arrays and lenses
  • Manage plans to accomplish the project on time, utilizing optical design/analysis software and working with manufacturing partners
  • Work with micro-optic vendors to deliver prototypes
  • Develop fabrication and assembly techniques for high volume manufacturing
  • Work with opto-mechanical engineers to define mechanical tolerances and constraints at the system level
  • Process development on die bond equipment
  • Develop custom lens materials that meet reliability requirements

Qualifications:

  • B.S., MS, or PhD in physics, optics or materials science, or equivalent knowledge
  • Experience in design, fabrication, and testing of lens arrays and precision molded optics
  • Deep knowledge of optical materials and material reliability testing
  • Strong communication skills, ideally combined with experience working with vendors/suppliers
