As a Tax & Compliance Analyst at Avalara, you will help customers meet their U.S. sales and use tax obligations through accurate and timely compliance execution across multiple jurisdictions. You will use AI-enabled tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround times across compliance workflows. Reporting to the Manager, Tax Compliance Services, you will build expertise in U.S. indirect tax compliance while supporting scalable operations through standardised processes and continuous improvement and it's a Pune-based role. #LI-Onsit
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
You will manage end-to-end sales and use tax compliance for assigned customers, including return preparation, payments, and filings across multiple jurisdictions.
You will validate transactional data, perform reconciliations, and ensure accurate, complete, and timely tax filings.
You will Identify and address data discrepancies to reduce compliance risk and improve filing accuracy.
You will use AI-enabled tools to improve data validation, reconciliation, reporting, and issue resolution while maintaining quality.
You will maintain accurate customer records, filing calendars, and compliance documentation to support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
You will prepare compliance reports and respond to routine customer inquiries, notices and filing-related questions.
You will manage workloads to meet filing deadlines and service level commitments.
You will identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks and contribute AI-driven workflow improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
What You'll Need to be Successful
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Taxation, Finance or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in sales and use tax, indirect tax, or tax compliance operations.
Understanding of U.S. sales and use tax concepts, filings, and compliance requirements.
Experience using technology, automation, or AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity while maintaining data security and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Accounting licensure, like CPA
