As a Sr Tax & Compliance Analyst, you will support Avalara's Premium Managed Returns service for customers with complex sales and use tax compliance requirements. Reporting to the Lead Tax Compliance, you will oversee a portfolio of premium customer accounts and ensure accurate, timely filings across multiple jurisdictions. You will help customers navigate complex compliance situations while building trusted relationships and delivering a high-quality service experience. You will also use AI-enabled tools and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. This is an onsite role based in Pune, India. #LI-Onsite
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
You will oversee the end-to-end filing lifecycle for Premium customers, including the preparation, review, and submission of multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax returns
Be the primary customer contact, offering solutions while managing complex compliance scenarios, reconciliations, data validation and jurisdiction-specific requirements
You will resolve notices and compliance inquiries while improving turnaround times and reducing escalations
Lead customer onboarding and data validation to provide a smooth transition into managed services
Improve filing quality by strengthening validation controls, reducing rework, and addressing process gaps
Partner with other teams to resolve operational issues and lead process improvements
Be an expert for complex compliance matters while supporting team development and knowledge sharing
Use AI-enabled tools to improve validation, notice research, customer communications, reporting and workflow management
What You'll Need to be Successful
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field and 3–5 years of sales and use tax compliance experience
Experience managing multi-jurisdictional filings and complex compliance scenarios.
Experience serving as the primary contact for customers and tax compliance processes, notice resolution.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills using AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy or scalability.
