We are looking for a, experienced Senior Salesforce CPQ Development Manager to join our team.
As a Senior Salesforce CPQ Development Manager, you will lead the design, architecture, and execution of Avalara's end-to-end Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) platform. You will create scalable, efficient, and accurate CPQ and billing solutions by partnering with business and technical teams to help growth, and seamless customer experiences. You will lead a team of engineers and administrators, define the technical roadmap, and collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Product teams. Your role will transform complex pricing, ordering, and invoicing scenarios into streamlined, automated solutions. Reporting to the Director of Business Technology, you will set engineering standards, ensure AI-first automation, and help steer the direction of critical systems that support Avalara's growth engine. What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Lead the engineering team responsible for the design, deployment, and support of Salesforce CPQ and Billing solutions.
- Shape the Quote-to-Cash architecture to support new product launches, pricing models, billing structures, and financial operations.
- Be a important liaison to senior partners across Finance, Sales, and Product to align platform capabilities with goals.
- Implement AI-first development practices to improve team efficiency, automate workflows, and enhance user experience.
- Oversee all CPQ/Billing flows including configuration, pricing, quoting, ordering, contracting, renewals, invoicing, and collections.
- Guide the technical roadmap, establishing best practices, performance benchmarks, and platform governance.
- Review solution designs, ensuring robustness, scalability, and adherence to architecture standards.
- Mentor Salesforce admins and engineers, encouraging skill development and of technical solutions.
- Lead UAT sessions and go-lives with business teams, ensuring a smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities for optimization through automation and process redesign.
- Ensure integration strategies are sound, especially with downstream systems including ERP, finance, and product platforms.
AI Bar Raiser
- Demonstrated hands-on use of AI in CPQ/QTC workflows : Proven experience implementing AI/GenAI use-cases such as guided selling recommendations, pricing optimization, automated bundle configuration or quote validation.
- Ability to embed AI into revenue operations architecture : Has integrated AI capabilities (e.g., Einstein, Prompt Builder, external LLMs, vector search, or decision engines) directly into Salesforce CPQ processes including product configuration, approvals, renewals, amendments, and order orchestration.
- Upskills the organization & defines the roadmap : Acts as an internal AI evangelist: establishes standards, identifies high-ROI use cases, coaches architects/admins on prompt design & AI patterns, and builds a multi-year AI roadmap for CPQ and downstream billing/revenue recognition processes.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of Salesforce experience, with at least 4 years focused on CPQ and Billing.
- 3+ years of people management or technical leadership experience in an engineering or enterprise systems role.
- Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, CPQ Specialist, and Platform App Builder are.
- Expertise in Salesforce platform development and configuration including Apex, Flow, custom objects, and Lightning.
- Experience leading large-scale Salesforce projects from creation through delivery and optimization.
- Knowledge of CPQ and Billing managed packages and best practices across Quote-to-Cash.
- Experience applying AI/automation tools to enhance software development lifecycle and business operations.
- Work across departments and align technical programs with priorities.
