What You'll Do

Avalara is looking for a Sr. Pricing Strategy Manager to join our Pricing & Monetization group. In this visible, individual contributor role, you will shape pricing and packaging across the organization. You will need to be comfortable working with multiple teams and business leaders to evaluate new proposals, challenge perspectives and measure expected outcomes. You will deliver analytical, business-first, outcomes that are backed by data. You will influence strategic decisions and connect them to measurable outcomes in this role.

This opportunity requires technical fluency, including advanced SQL expertise, experience working with ETL tools, and the ability to build scalable dashboards using visualization platforms such as Power BI and Excel. You are comfortable navigating large datasets and transforming them into compelling narratives for executive audiences.

You will partner directly with General Managers across multiple businesses. The outcomes you deliver are represented by concise presentations, structured frameworks, or well-designed analytical workflows. You will report to the Director, Pricing and Monetization. This is a remote position in the United States.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Define annual price optimization programs by summarizing quantitative and qualitative data to develop a compelling pricing strategy proposal.

  • Differentiate pricing and monetization models across multiple products, customer segments, markets and other dimensions.

  • Work with General Managers to understand product roadmaps and feature functionality that contribute to pricing and packaging recommendations.

  • Promote business case discussions and analysis that result in decisions and prioritization.

  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, and Finance teams.

  • Create compelling materials to simplify complicated topics for decision-making.
  • Develop subject matter expertise on competitive pricing practices and trends, monitor and disseminate changes in the field and analyze the impact on both the business and account level.
  • Develop perspectives on bundling that inform customer value and promote ARR.
  • Influence GMs and executives around monetization opportunities for all products.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 5+ years experience in Pricing, SaaS Monetization, Management Consulting, Finance

  • or related fields.

  • Experience combining business and technical skills so that deliverables are clear.

  • Adaptability in ambiguous environments with evolving priorities and limited structure

  • Advanced SQL and data visualization experience

  • Prior experience in Snowflake, PowerBi, Salesforce, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Economics

Pay Range Details


The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be
different in other locations.


Colorado $111,300-$178,100 (annually)
Washington $111,300-$196,700 (annually)
California $111,300-$215,400(annually)
NYC $134,600-$215,400 (annually)


The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The
successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic
location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on
the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
