The Senior Director of Sales for Property Tax and License Management is responsible for leading and scaling Avalara’s specialized sales organization focused on property tax and licensing solutions. This role owns sales strategy, revenue growth, and team performance across these product lines and plays a key role in expanding Avalara’s footprint in complex compliance markets.
This leader will build, coach, and enable a team of sales specialists, partner closely with Product and Go-To-Market leadership, and act as a strategic voice of the customer to ensure Avalara’s solutions continue to meet evolving compliance needs.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
Define and execute the sales strategy for Avalara’s Property Tax and License Management solutions.
Own and consistently exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Identify growth opportunities across industries, customer segments, and regions.
Team Leadership & Development
Build, lead, and scale a high-performing sales team of property tax and license management specialists.
Set clear expectations, coach performance, and develop future sales leaders.
Ensure the team is equipped with the right training, messaging, and tools to win complex deals.
Customer & Market Engagement
Serve as a senior sales leader and trusted advisor for strategic customers and prospects.
Maintain a strong understanding of property tax and licensing compliance challenges and market trends.
Represent Avalara’s solutions with credibility in complex, consultative sales cycles.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner closely with Product, Sales Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to align sales execution with product strategy and go-to-market plans.
Provide customer and market feedback to influence product direction and positioning.
Ensure smooth handoffs from sales to implementation and ongoing customer success.
Operational Excellence
Establish scalable sales processes, forecasting discipline, and performance metrics.
Promote collaboration, best-practice sharing, and consistent execution across the sales organization.
What You'll Need to be Successful
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
7+ years of experience in enterprise or complex solution sales, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
Proven success building and leading high-performing sales teams in software, SaaS, or technology-enabled services.
Experience selling into regulated, compliance-driven, or tax-related markets strongly preferred.
Strong executive presence with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Results-driven, hands-on leader who can balance strategy with execution.
Familiarity with Avalara’s solutions, customers, or operating model is a plus.
