What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Salesforce CPQ Development Manager to join our team.

As the Senior Salesforce CPQ Development Manager, you will drive the end-to-end architecture and execution of Avalara's Quote-to-Cash platform, ensuring scalable, efficient, and accurate CPQ and billing processes. You will lead a team of engineers and admins, define the technical roadmap, and collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, and Product teams. Your role will be pivotal in transforming complex pricing, ordering, and invoicing scenarios into streamlined, automated solutions. You will b be reporting to the Director of Business Technology, you will set engineering standards, enable AI-first automation, and help steer the direction of critical systems that support Avalara's growth engine. Job location : India-Remote


What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Lead the engineering team responsible for the design, development, deployment, and support of Salesforce CPQ and Billing solutions.
  • Define and evolve the Quote-to-Cash architecture to support new product launches, pricing models, billing structures, and financial operations.
  • Act as liaison to senior stakeholders across Finance, Sales, and Product to align platform capabilities with business objectives.
  • Implement AI-first development practices to improve team efficiency, automate workflows, and enhance user experience.
  • Oversee all CPQ/Billing flows including configuration, pricing, quoting, ordering, contracting, renewals, invoicing, and collections.
  • Drive the technical roadmap, establishing best practices, performance benchmarks, and platform governance.
  • Review and approve solution designs, ensuring robustness, scalability, and adherence to architecture standards.
  • Mentor Salesforce admins and engineers, encouraging skill development and ownership of technical solutions.
  • Lead UAT sessions and go-lives with business teams, ensuring the smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities for optimization through automation and process redesign.
  • Ensure integration strategies are sound, especially with downstream systems including ERP, finance, and product platforms.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of Salesforce experience, with at least 4 years focused on CPQ and Billing.
  • 3+ years of people management or technical leadership experience in an engineering or enterprise systems role.
  • Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, CPQ Specialist, and Platform App Builder are strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in Salesforce platform development and configuration including Apex, Flow, custom objects, and Lightning.
  • Experience in leading large-scale Salesforce projects from inception through delivery and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of CPQ and Billing managed packages and best practices across Quote-to-Cash.
  • Experience applying AI/automation tools to enhance software development lifecycle and business operations.
