Job Description

What You'll Do

The Senior Financial Insights Analyst delivers accurate, data-driven financial insights to support decision-making across Avalara. Partnering with Finance and business leaders, you will focus on financial modeling, forecasting, performance analysis, and scalable reporting to guide planning, investment decisions, and cost optimization. You will report to the Senior Director, Value Creation. This is a remote position in the United States.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • You will maintain financial models and forecasts for short- and long-term planning

  • Analyze financial and operational performance; deliver variance analysis and applicable insights

  • Assess financial impact of programs and operational decisions

  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations on cost and performance analysis

  • Support strategic planning, investment evaluation, and cost optimization programs

  • Build standardized reporting, KPIs, and scalable dashboards to improve transparency

  • Improve financial data quality, validation, and reporting processes

  • Identify trends to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 5–7+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or analytics (or 3–5+ years with a Master's degree)

  • You have financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills

  • You have experience translating complex data into clear business insights

  • Proficiency with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

  • Working knowledge of SQL and financial data modeling

  • Experience in a SaaS, B2B, or technology.

  • Familiarity with DBT

The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be
different in other locations.


Colorado $100,300-$160,500 (annually)
Washington $100,300-$177,200 (annually)
California $100,300-$194,300 (annually)
NYC $121,300-$194,300 (annually)


The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The
successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic
location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on
the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
