As our Lead Financial Insights Analyst, you will be an individual-contributor within Avalara's Global Analytics and Insights organization. You will play a critical part in advancing Avalara's financial transformation efforts by generating high-quality insights, building analytical frameworks, and ensuring more data-driven strategic and operational decisions. You will illuminate the financial impact of business activities, uncover value-creation opportunities, and guide the evolution of forecasting, reporting, and performance measurement practices. You will partner with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and department leaders to shape how Avalara understands revenue, margin, profitability, and financial drivers across the enterprise. You will report to the Senior Director, Value Creation Insights. This is a remote position in the United States.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Develop transparent financial models that support forecasting, strategic planning, and financial transformation programs.
Analyze performance and identify the costs of operational and strategic decisions.
Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, and risk assessment to support better decision-making.
Partner with leaders including General Managers (GM's), Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations to assess costs of business strategies.
Produce clear, data-backed insights that inform investment decisions, resource allocation, and cost optimization.
Support strategic planning plans by developing financial analyses that clarify tradeoffs and highlight value-creation levers.
Develop standardized dashboards, and KPI frameworks that improve financial and operational performance visibility.
Deliver recurring performance reviews and variance analyses, highlighting the drivers of performance and possible effects for future periods
What You'll Need to be Successful
6+ years experience in financial analysis, FP&A, business insights, strategic finance, or a similar analytical role (or 4–6+ years with a Master's).
Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and performance measurement.
Proficiency with BI and analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
You have advanced SQL experience with financial data modeling, validation, and transformation.
You have experience connecting analytical work to operational and financial outcomes.
Experience in a SaaS, B2B, or technology.
You have familiarity with revenue forecasting, cost modeling, unit economics, and financial business cases.
You have experience working with DBT.
Pay Range Details
The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be
different in other locations.
Colorado $126,000-$201,600 (annually)
Washington $139,200-$222,800 (annually)
California $139,200-$244,000(annually)
NYC $152,600-$244,000 (annually)
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The
successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic
location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on
the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
