What You'll Do

We are looking for Corporate Communications manager role. You will manage both strategic and hands-on, balancing internal and external communications for our India organization while staying tightly aligned with Avalara's global business priorities. This role spends 75% of its time supporting internal communications, with the remainder allocated to externally facing PR opportunities and issues management.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

You will:

  • Lead day-to-day internal communications for India, managing updates that inform, engage, and inspire Avalarians, while ensuring alignment with global internal communications cadence and schedule.
  • Support the management and oversight of Avalara's intranet (powered by Simpplr), our central hub for internal content, ensuring everything is clear, accurate, and aligned with company and region-specific priorities.
  • Partner with the head of global internal communications (based in the U.S.) to synchronize content strategy, schedule, and tone across geographies.
  • Develop executive communications for Avalara's India leadership team, including talking points, scripts, all-hands materials, and main announcements.
  • Collaborate with external communications and PR leaders in the U.S. to strengthen Avalara's reputation in India as employer of choice, in partnership with our India-based PR agency.
  • Support media relations by crafting compelling narratives, preparing spokespeople, and coordinating interviews with India-based business and technology journalists.
  • Leverage AI tools and data-driven insights to streamline content creation, measure engagement, and continuously improve communication effectiveness.
  • Plan and execute internal events such as India town halls, ensuring clear messaging and strong employee connection.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with People & Culture, IT, Security, and Workplace teams to communicate initiatives that enhance the employee experience in India.
  • Contribute to Avalara APAC social media in collaboration with the India Marketing, External Communications, and Talent Brand teams.
  • Support crisis communications and issues management.

What You'll Need to be Successful

You will need:

  • 10–12 years of communications experience in global or matrixed organizations, spanning both internal and external communications.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic communications plans.
  • Technical aptitude to learn and manage digital communications platforms, including Simpplr (the Grove), and comfort experimenting with AI-enabled tools that enhance productivity and analytics.
  • Media relations experience, particularly with business and technology media in India; B2B or SaaS experience.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Mastery of internal communications software tools such as Outlook, Slack, Zoom, and ChatGPT.
  • 5+ years of experience crafting narratives about AI, automation, or innovation in a corporate context.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi is required, and fluency in Marathi.
