Avalara is looking for an experienced Principal Enterprise Architect to lead our go-to-market (GTM) architecture strategy across Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Operations. You will report to the Head of Enterprise Architecture.
- You will define and lead GTM architecture strategy and roadmap across Marketing, RevOps, and Sales (Market-to-Lead and Lead-to-Revenue).
- You will align architecture investments with Marketing Ops, Sales Ops, and RevOps to boost conversion, speed-to-lead, routing, and attribution.
- You will collaborate with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to deliver architecture enablers with clear NFRs (latency, scale, reliability, and privacy).
- You will establish enterprise guardrails—canonical GTM data model, consent/PII policies, integration/eventing patterns, and system boundaries.
- You will lead platform reuse (scoring, enrichment, routing, attribution) and minimize stack complexity through standards and ADRs.
- You will partner with Salesforce, Data/AI, Security, Marketing, Sales, and RevOps to provide a seamless end-to-end customer journey.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Capability & Data: Maintain GTM capability models and canonical data contracts for lead/contact/account/party; enforce dedupe and data quality.
- Segmentation & Scoring: Design ABM segmentation, AI/heuristic scoring, and LeanData-based routing with Service level agreements for lead accuracy and speed.
- Attribution and Insights: Define multi-touch attribution pipelines to Snowflake; deliver standardized metrics and dashboards.
- Integration & Eventing: Architect APIs/events across Salesforce, Marketo, Outreach, CDP, and telemetry systems.
- Compliance & Governance: Embed privacy-by-design (OneTrust/PII), lead design reviews, manage standards by EA board, and document in LeanIX.
- Measurement & Delivery: Track architecture Goals (MQL→SQL lift, routing accuracy, reuse rate); support ARTs with PI planning, integration risk mitigation, and mentoring.
- Vendor & Portfolio: Assess vendors, retire redundant tools, and support M&A integration for GTM systems.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- 12 or more years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture with deep GTM domain expertise.
- Leadership experience across Marketing, Sales, and RevOps programs.
- Expert in Salesforce Sales Cloud, Marketo/MAP, ABM/intent, LeanData, and CDP/eventing tools.
- Experience with GTM data modeling, attribution, Snowflake/ELT, AI-driven scoring, and MLOps.
- Experience In API/event-driven design, NFRs, reference architectures, and portfolio rationalization.
- Hands-on with SAFe/PI planning and governance.
- Knowledge of consent, PII, and privacy frameworks with secure-by-design approach.
- Proficient in LeanIX, Jira, Confluence, C4/UML/ArchiMate, and analytics/BI tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field. #LI-Onsite
