Shape the future of global rewards at Avalara.

As our Senior Director, Compensation, you'll be the architect of a global framework that not only supports our talent acquisition strategy but also strengthens employee engagement and performance across the company.

This is a role where you'll partner with leaders across the organization, including People Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business executives, to design equitable, and scalable compensation programs. You'll guide how we reward performance, structure growth opportunities, and stay competitive worldwide.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Lead global compensation programs: annual salary reviews, short-term incentives, promotions, equity refresh, and more.
  • Be a trusted advisor: collaborate with senior leaders on complex compensation matters, ensuring fairness, compliance, and alignment to strategy.
  • Shape the future of work: evaluate roles, align job architecture, and keep Avalara ahead of market shifts through proactive analysis.
  • Guide data-powered insights: use modeling and market intelligence to influence decisions and shape compensation strategies.
  • Lead and inspire: manage a global team of compensation professionals and partner across HR, Finance, and Technology.
  • Build for scale: improve our use of Workday Advanced Compensation, strengthen job architecture, and ensure programs work across a global workforce.
  • Contribute to transformation: from performance management to M&A activity, you'll help ensure we're ready for the future.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 10+ years of global compensation leadership experience in both public and private companies.
  • Expertise with Workday HCM/Advanced Compensation.
  • Knowledge of Radford practices and surveys.
  • The ability to distill complex data into clear, applicable insights.
  • Experience leading compensation programs across diverse, global teams.
  • Experience building fair, transparent, and scalable programs that fuel success.
