Avalara is looking for a fully remote senior marketing leader, reporting to our VP, Revenue Marketing to oversee Events as a core revenue-driving channel. You will lead strategy and execution across all event types including third-party conferences, Avalara-hosted experiences, field marketing activations, and digital webinars with full accountability for pipeline and bookings contribution.
You will shape the global event portfolio to support our growth across segments, products, and geographies. You will partner across GTM, Sales, Business Development, Partner, and Marketing functions to ensure every event aligns to revenue goals, segment priorities, and audience needs, and that every investment delivers impact.
You will lead a high-performing team focused on experience design, calendar planning, event execution, and post-event performance. You'll bring structure, discipline, and new ideas to the event channel, using data, AI, and modern tech to improve execution and attribution at scale.
This is a role for a strategic operator who knows that events are not a tactic, they are a revenue-driving channel. You will turn experience into revenue.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Event Strategy & Portfolio Ownership
- Define and manage the global event portfolio across third-party conferences, hosted experiences, field events, and webinars
- Align event investments to pipeline goals, bookings forecasts, and segment priorities
- Establish an always-on event strategy that supports top-of-funnel acquisition and mid-funnel acceleration
Team Leadership & Execution Excellence
- Lead a cross-functional event team, including field, webinar, and hosted event managers
- Standardize best practices across event planning, execution, and post-event optimization
- Partner with Creative, Revenue Marketing, and Ops to deliver high-quality, on-brand experiences at scale
Channel Performance & Optimization
- Manage full-funnel performance from the event channel — MQL through bookings
- Establish systems for pre- and post-event measurement, attribution, and Return on Investment
- Use AI and real-time data to accelerate execution, personalize experiences, and improve conversion
GTM Integration & Stakeholder Alignment
- Partner with Sales, Revenue Marketing, and Regional leaders to align event strategy to territory and segment goals
- Collaborate with Revenue & Partner Marketing to embed events into campaign planning and GTM program execution
- Ensure quarterly and annual event plans support sales coverage and product priorities
- Represent Event Marketing in executive planning, revenue forecasting, and leadership forums
Key Metrics & KPIs
- Pipeline and bookings influenced by the event channel
- MQL & SQL performance by format, region, and segment
- Attendance, engagement, and follow-up conversion rates
- Forecast accuracy, velocity, and contribution pacing
- Team performance, vendor execution, and cross-functional satisfaction
What You'll Need to be Successful
- 15+ years of experience in B2B marketing with a focus on event, field, or demand marketing
- Experience managing pipeline and revenue outcomes from global event portfolios
- Experience leading field, hosted, and digital event teams with GTM alignment
- Experience with experience design, event ops, and marketing attribution
- Expertise in tools such as ON24, Marketo, 6sense, Salesforce, and Power BI
- AI fluency and experience using tech to grow targeting, content, and execution
- Strong leadership presence with experience presenting to Sales, GMs, and executive leadership
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, matrixed, results-driven GTM organization
