What You'll Do

We expect every engineer, manager, and leader to leverage AI to enhance productivity, quality, innovation, and customer value. AI is embedded in our workflows, decision-making, and products — and success at Avalara requires embracing AI as an essential capability, not an optional tool.

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Business Technology to lead the technical execution and engineering delivery of our Salesforce Service Cloud platform. You will lead a team of developers and contributing to the design, development, and deployment of scalable solutions that enable customer support experiences at Avalara. This will report to the Senior Manager of Business Technology

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • You will lead end-to-end technical delivery of enhancements and integrations within Salesforce Service Cloud, including system architecture, design reviews, and code quality.

  • Manage a team of developers, engineers, business analysts, and technical consultants working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Partner with product managers, architects, and partners to define solution requirements, technical roadmaps, and delivery plans.

  • Improve performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across the Service Cloud platform.

  • Oversee system stability and impose rigorous standards to ensure platform health.

  • Ensure adherence to Salesforce development best practices, including secure coding, DevOps automation, and test-driven development.

  • Drive AI adoption across their teams and projects.


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Minimum of 8 years of Salesforce platform experience, including 5 years of experience with Salesforce Service Cloud

  • Minimum of 3 years in a development management or technical leadership role

  • Knowledge of Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, SOQL, and integration patterns

  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer II, Service Cloud Consultant)

  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions across customer support organizations

  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate or improve software development processes and Prompt Engineering best practices

Pay Range Details

The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado $166,100-$274,100 (annually)

Washington $166,100-$303,100 (annually)

California $166,100-$331,900 (annually)

NYC $183,700-$331,900 (annually)

The pay range above is the general base pay range for you in the state listed. Your actual salary/wage may be based on several factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, market and business considerations. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and your role.
