We're looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead global hiring strategy, support organizational transformation, and elevate the TA function to the next level.

Reporting to the VP, Global Talent Acquisition, you will help evolve how we attract, engage, and hire talent worldwide, with a focus on strategic leadership, operational excellence, and enabling a Talent Acquisition function. You'll partner with senior business and People leaders, leading key initiatives that shape how we hire today and in the future.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Provide global TA leadership across multiple business units, acting as a trusted partner to executive partners and HR colleagues.
  • Lead strategic hiring programs aligned to business goals, with a focus on scalable, inclusive, and data-informed recruiting practices.
  • Drive change management efforts across the TA function, supporting process optimization, new technology rollouts, and adoption of best practices.
  • Design and implement upskilling, training, and enablement programs for recruiters and hiring managers to elevate recruiting capabilities across the company.
  • Champion continuous improvement by analyzing performance data, identifying gaps or friction points, and leading efforts to improve and simplify processes.
  • Contribute to long-term workforce planning by interpreting labor market trends and competitive intelligence to shape sourcing and pipeline strategies.
  • Collaborate with Finance, People & Culture, and business leaders to ensure recruiting efforts align with broader organizational planning.
  • Promote inclusivity in hiring, championing diversity, equity, and belonging through both strategy and action.
  • You'll be a visible culture carrier and thought partner, promoting Avalara's values and employer brand both internally and externally.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition management experience in global environments, with a strong track record of strategic leadership in high-growth settings.
  • Proven experience leading through transformation, including designing and executing change management initiatives and process improvements.
  • Strong ability to influence and align stakeholders across complex matrixed organizations.
  • Experience driving recruiter and hiring manager enablement through training, toolkits, and best practices.
  • Deep understanding of recruiting analytics and how to use data to improve decision-making and optimize outcomes.
  • Experience in high-tech or startup environments and a blend of agency and in-house experience.
  • Demonstrated success in creating inclusive recruiting strategies that reduce bias and promote equitable outcomes.
  • Authentic leadership style rooted in collaboration, communication, and curiosity.
