The Vice President of Finance Operations will lead the financial processes and systems for two critical business cycles, quote-to-cash and procure-to-pay. You will also help manage Avalara's insurance programs, administering its 401(k) plan, integrating newly acquired companies, and several other responsibilities. You will be an important contributor in helping achieve Avalara's most important goals, focusing on helping Avalara refine daily operations. You will work in a collaborative and cross-functional manner with several executive partners in the business to ensure that goals are being accomplished in a thoughtful manner. This job is remote-friendly.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Lead mission-critical programs that allow Avalara to automate and refine its operations.
- Oversee and direct the selection and deployment of financial systems on a global basis. Partner cross-functionally to ensure efficient processes and system designs.
- Support Avalara management by providing sound financial and strategic advice to help with the management of the business. · Demonstrate leadership in all interactions with employees, colleagues, and internal and external customers.
- Ensure that Avalara is using systems capabilities worldwide to improve and automate manual processes, thereby improving speed and accuracy of execution.
- Help integrate M&A targets to ensure that systems, processes, and capabilities are harmonious across all products, geographies, and departments within the company.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Product to ensure transparent, real-time reporting of performance and measurement with regards to organizational and our goals.
- Partner with Sales on improving order visibility, Marketing on funnel management, and product on accelerating new product introduction and integration of acquired platforms.
- Ensure the selection, development, and retention of a qualified global finance operations management staff, to manage all responsibilities and provide continuity of managerial and specialized skills.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- You have 15+ years of experience in a lead financial operations role within a well-run technology organization (prefer experience annual revenues $200 million or greater) and bring experience scaling a rapidly growing finance operations team. The successful VP of Finance and Operations will have worked in growth-oriented environments, growing a company from $500 million to over $1 billion in revenue.
- Demonstrated ability helping scale global operations within a public company.
- Experience with order management, billing, collection, and cash application procedures – in a high-volume environment. Experience implementing quality assurance measures, internal controls, and process improvements in a financial operations environment.
- A history of understanding of the revenue cycle for a SaaS or software company.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other relevant field required. MBA or CPA preferred.
