What You'll Do

Managing a team to support Sales & Use tax filings as part of Avalara Beverage & Alcohol product offering.

This role is based within the Global Returns Services in Pune, India.

A demanding role where attention to detail is extremely important. Focus on effective work allocation amongst team members to meet the timely delivery of the Returns. May have step-in (as needed) to accomplish the work delivery.[AR1] Candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day deliverables of a team within a department ensuring policy & procedures are understood and followed.

Candidates will be expected to have worked in a previous Tax specific function and be conversant with Word, Excel, Ppt to a good standard.

Customer focused with excellent communication skills you will be able to explain and convey information clearly to clients.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

Job Duties

  • Managing BevAlc filing / preparation / Registration tasks for team size of 10 or more
  • Oversee and manage tax processing tasks in the team (approx. 50% of the time)
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the higher management
  • Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of programs and initiatives within group to attain high employee satisfaction.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Communicate the objective of the project, desired outcomes and measure success.
  • Exposure to Goal setting for self and team members across all IC levels
  • Play a crucial part in hiring talent and grooming them for growth within the team members
  • Understand the training needs well and collaborating with SMEs and L&D
  • Experience in managing the performance discussions with the team members regularly
  • Ensuring all Tax filing submissions are completed on-time, accurately and to Avalara targets on efficiency and profitability.
  • Training

    As a Compliance Supervisor you are the front line for ongoing education and training. Compliance Analysts communicate new enhancements and drive adoption of existing technology to enable clients to self-serve where possible. Your understanding of client needs enables clients to get the full benefit of Avalara’s expertise and software. Additionally, you will partner with the Customer Success Manager to ensure the customer is aware of how our proprietary software can help them manage compliance for their business more efficiently. Promote positive relations and communications with coworkers, vendors, and clients following our Core Values

  • Relationship Management

    You will need to understand client businesses through listening and collaboration. Each client varies in business needs, geographic reach and growth strategy, so being familiar with client nuances is essential

  • Customer focused with excellent communication skills you will be able to explain and convey information clearly to clients (as may be required)
  • Collaborating with all the stakeholders effectively without any escalation
  • Developing as a people manager, supporting employees by providing guidance, coaching, training and have regular 1:1's. Partner with manager on employee related issues, performance reviews & career conversations.
  • Play important role for all Exec and Client escalations. Also propose appropriate RCAPA for future

What You'll Need to be Successful

Qualifications

  • Overall experience 8 – 10 years. Tax filing / registration experience in managing a team for 1 – 2 years min.
  • Should have excellent language skills in English (oral and written)
  • MBA in Finance (preferably)
  • MS Excel (intermediary to Advance) skills. Other MS office apps proficiency
  • Ability to keep the team motivated under all circumstances with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
  • Attention to detail, with a drive to continuously improve
  • Results-oriented, highly organized, motivated and driven to succeed
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Self-driven, result oriented and deadline driven
