The Role

We are hiring a Senior AI Engineer to help build the core AI systems, product experiences, and agentic workflows that power Arkero.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who has built real products, shipped production software, and understands how to turn ambiguous customer problems into useful AI-powered workflows. You will work across product, engineering, data, and customer deployments to design and build systems that help sports organizations operate more intelligently.

We are looking for an experienced builder who can move quickly, think deeply about product, and deliver high-quality software in a fast-changing environment. You should be comfortable prototyping with customers, building production-grade systems, working with LLMs and AI agents, and getting into the details of messy real-world workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship AI-powered product features across the Arkero platform.
• Develop agentic workflows that help customers automate repetitive tasks, surface insights, capture organizational knowledge, and make better decisions.
• Work across the full product lifecycle: customer discovery, technical design, implementation, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Integrate large language models, AI APIs, retrieval systems, structured data, application logic, and user-facing workflows into reliable production experiences.
• Build systems that can reason over customer context, documents, meetings, operational workflows, and business data.
• Partner closely with product, design, data, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous customer needs into practical AI products.
• Prototype quickly, test with real users, and turn learnings into scalable product capabilities.
• Improve the quality, reliability, observability, and performance of AI systems in production.
• Evaluate model behavior, identify failure modes, and build guardrails, feedback loops, and quality checks.
• Work directly with customers when needed, including onsite visits, workshops, workflow discovery sessions, and deployment support.
• Help define engineering patterns, product architecture, and best practices for building AI-native software at Arkero.
• Contribute to a high-ownership engineering culture where speed, quality, customer impact, and product judgment all matter.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of building and shipping production products.
• Strong product and engineering judgment, with experience turning ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions.
• Hands-on experience building with modern AI tools, LLMs, AI APIs, retrieval systems, agents, or AI-assisted workflows.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with the ability to work across backend services, data workflows, APIs, and product surfaces.
• Experience designing and operating production systems, including observability, testing, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving startup environment with incomplete information and changing priorities.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfort working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand workflows, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for workshops, discovery, rollout support, and product feedback sessions.
• Based in or willing to work from Seattle, WA or Irvine, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a growth-stage or mid-stage startup where you helped scale products, systems, teams, or engineering practices.
• Experience building AI agents, workflow automation, copilots, knowledge systems, analytics products, or enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Experience using tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or other AI coding agents to accelerate high-quality engineering work.
• Experience working with customer-facing teams, forward-deployed engineers, solutions engineers, or implementation teams.
• Experience with sports, ticketing, live entertainment, CRM, fan engagement, or operational data systems.
• Experience with modern data infrastructure, including SQL, warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, event data, and customer data platforms.
• Experience evaluating LLM outputs, designing AI quality metrics, building human-in-the-loop workflows, or monitoring AI system performance.
• Experience creating developer-friendly internal tools, reusable engineering patterns, and scalable product foundations.
