Senior Delivery Manager
Agile Six
Agile Six is a people-first, remote-work company that serves shoulder-to-shoulder with federal agencies to find innovative, human-centered solutions. We build better by putting people first. We are animated by our core values of Purpose, Wholeness, Trust, Self-Management and Inclusion. We deliver our solutions in autonomous teams of self-managed professionals (no managers here!) who genuinely care about each other and the work. We know that’s our company’s purpose – and that we can only achieve it by supporting a culture where people feel valued, self-managed, and love to come to work.
The role
Agile Six is looking for a Senior Delivery Manager/Project Lead to join a newly formed team working on an initiative to modernize and streamline critical government services. At Agile Six, Senior Delivery Managers support multiple 5-8 person product teams. Each team is composed of Agile Six employees and people from trusted partner firms. We seek Delivery Managers who:
- Steward team health and successful delivery with a focus on continuous improvement
- Leverage agile principles and experience to help the team continuously deliver value
- Pragmatically solve problems that are barriers to the team by making informed decisions and acting on them
- Collaborate to build effective trust-based relationships
- Communicate honestly. Provide direct feedback and help others do the same
- Bring out the best in others and foster inclusion
- Ensure contractual obligations are upheld
- Support Agile Six core values
Most importantly, we look for people who share our passion for working on important problems that have a lasting impact on millions of users and make a difference in our government!
Please note, this position is anticipated, pending contract award response.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for team delivery in high-complexity environments, such as new agency customers, ensuring a healthy and productive environment from the start
- Establish strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders while fostering an exceptional first impression of Agile Six’s culture and delivery effectiveness
- Cultivate a positive team dynamic. Build accountability for safe, trusting environments through the creation and regular review of team working agreements and norming documents.
- Lead the development and maturation of team norms and ceremonies, ensuring that they foster productivity, alignment, and continuous improvement
- Onboard new team members, including help learning team processes and culture, and establishing foundational domain knowledge
- Advocate for appropriate staffing levels to ensure the team is adequately resourced for effective delivery, raising concerns when the team is not properly staffed
- Monitor, identify, and address conflict, integrating company support and resources as needed
- Help the team maintain a pace of delivery that is effective for the customer and sustainable for the team within a complex environment
- Bring out the best in teammates by leading by example, explaining the positive impact of our work, and driving positive outcomes for users
- Coach teams. Help teams and teammates develop the skills needed to operate as empowered, self organizing groups able to: resolve conflict, take ownership of work, assign and manage their own tasks, and adapt to changing circumstances with limited external direction. Partner with Team Coaches on these efforts as needed, particularly for complex challenges.
- Communicate clearly, honestly, and effectively, both with team members and with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Navigate strategic stakeholder relationships in a multi-vendor environment. Align cross-functional teams and applying solutions-driven approaches to resolve high-stakes challenges and ensure delivery success.
- Establish feedback loops, ensuring teams are aligned, responsive to input, and continuously improving delivery
- Proactively identify and remove or guide the team to remove impediments, addressing complex challenges with minimal guidance
- Accountable for fulfilling all reporting and contractual requirements. Reporting requirements may include monthly delivery reporting, GitHub project reporting each sprint, and other ad hoc requests.
- Proactively manage risks by surfacing technical, compliance, and delivery risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
- Support the practice of delivery management within the larger company and participate in the delivery community of practice.
- We expect the responsibilities of this position to shift and grow organically over time, in response to considerations such as the unique strengths and interests of the selected candidate and other team members and an evolving understanding of the delivery environment
