Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Lead is an essential part of the collaborative patient care team that supports an exceptional patient experience. The Medical Assistant Lead is empowered to practice and contribute throughout the care experience. At its core, the Medical Assistant Lead provides direct patient care while demonstrating servant leadership, leveraging our interdisciplinary approach to integrated care. The Medical Assistant Lead promotes a level of care that goes beyond industry standards and strives for excellence at every step. In addition, the Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for directing and supervising a team of RNs, CNAs, MAs, LVNs, and / or LPNs.

  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to: improve quality of care; ensure appropriate, safe, and effective quality patient care; and overall clinic efficacy.

  • Delivers patient care, practicing under the oversight of an RN or clinic supervisor

  • Serves as a resource to other nurses and the care team, and coordinates the training and on-boarding of new support staff team members

  • Take medical histories, measure patient vitals, and other pertinent information to assist the clinician with care of the patient

  • Administer medications, including injections in scope of practice

  • Manages Nursing Staff schedule and appropriateness of appointments. Takes initiative to contact patients when needed and demonstrate knowledge of when to consult with a provider

  • Handle multi-phone line system, professionally answering calls, scheduling appointments, responding to email, and ensuring great communication

  • Handle all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible

  • Resolves customer complaints; assists customers with inquiries in connection with clinic services and hours of Operations.

  • Participates in quality improvement programs to ensure the practice is performing efficiently and in accordance with Crossover’s policies

  • Coordinates Quality and Compliance checks required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of healthcare analytic tools, systems, and analysis

  • Contributes to reporting requirements related to incident reporting and compliance

  • Handle inventory, orders, and replenish medical supplies and materials.

  • Participates in the implementation of new health technologies, products, services, and programs

  • Assists population health programs and clinic outreach initiatives

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • One year management experience

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant or surgical technician program

  • Minimum of 3 years comparable clinical back office medical assistant experience

  • Current CNA, MA, LVN, or LPN license in the state you are practicing

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

  • Reading, writing, and excellent oral proficiency in the English language.

  • High level of work ethic, ownership, accountability and initiative.

  • Proven organizational skills, great interpersonal skills, and ability to work as a key team member.

  • Ability to drive work from inception to completion

  • Ability to hand ambiguity in solving issues

  • Comfort and efficiency with multi-tasking, issue resolution, and conflict management.

  • Leadership skills and experience working in a collaborative team environment

  • Experience in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

Physical Job Requirements

  • May require standing, walking and sitting for extended amounts of time.

  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination

  • Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients.

  • Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
